Plot Summary

Andrew "Ender" Wiggin is brilliant. Ruthless. Calculating. And six years old. Ender is a Third, one of the rare third children allowed to parents in the futuristic U.S. He is the perfect combination of his two older siblings: his too-passive sister, Valentine, and his violent brother, Peter. Ender is exactly what the International Fleet has been looking for. When IF employee Colonel Graff shows up to recruit him, Ender makes the difficult decision to leave his family behind and join Battle School, a station located in space. At Battle School, gifted children are trained in space combat and strategy, preparing for the day the alien Buggers return to Earth.

Ender is no ordinary soldier. Over the years, he quickly ascends in the ranks of Battle School, till he has his own army to lead in null-gravity, mock battles. But it's not enough; the IF wants him to be Commander. They want Ender to travel to a conquered Bugger planet to attend Command School. But Command School is not what it seems. The Buggers are not what they seem. And Ender is tired of playing the IF's game.
