Plot Summary
The Dragon's Tooth: For the past two years, Cyrus and Antigone Smith have run the decrepit Archer motel with their older brother, Dan. Their dad is dead. Their mom is in a coma. And things don't even started to get really bad until William Skelton shows up and demands a specific room in the motel. Hours later, Skelton is dead, the Archer is burned down, Dan is missing, and Antigone and Cyrus are on the run from immortals. In his final hours, Skelton gave Cyrus his key ring and proclaimed himself to be Cy's and Antigone's godfather. Now, the two are being sworn in to a secret, ancient order of explorers Skelton once belonged to. At the Order of Brendan's Ashtown Estate, they are safe--for now. Even if they do live in the Polygon, a chamber infested with Whip Spiders. In Ashtown they meet Nolan, a fellow Polygoner and transmortal boy; Rupert Greeves, the O of B's Avengel; Big Ben Sterling, the slimy cook; Diana Boone the pilot, and others. But a few issues have arisen: 1) the Smith family is infamous for being a line of reckless troublemakers, 2) Cyrus and Antigone cannot come into the Skelton inheritance and leave Ashtown to save Dan till they reach the rank of Journeymen by the 1914 standards, and 3) the madman called Phoenix who holds Dan desperately wants something of the Smiths'. Something on Skelton's keychain. Something Cyrus can never give him.

The Drowned Vault: Cyrus Smith might just be the most despised individual in Ashtown since losing the Dragon's Tooth. The full repercussions of this loss do not fully come crashing down, though, until transmortals descend upon Ashtown, demanding that the treaties on them be broken and the Burials opened. And most of them seem to also want Cyrus's head. The race begins to find the nefarious Dr. Phoenix and regain the Dragon's Tooth before Phoenix can awaken the dead and before another evil--far greater than Phoenix and far more ancient--is loosed from its chains.

Empire of Bones: The Smiths and their companions are on the run. The dragon gin Radu Bey is assembling an empire of living bodies and he drinks their pain and fear. Phoenix waits for Radu Bey's Ordo Draconis to tear down Ashtown before stepping in to tame the beasts and reign over the ashes. But the Smiths will not wait for that to happen before acting. Having finally uncovered the mystery of Skelton's inheritance--two paper lanterns bearing names and locations of his hidden magical items and valuable contacts. While Cyrus and Rupert Greeves return to Ashtown to rally the monks and remaining members, Antigone and others travel to collect Skelton's weapons and learn about what they are facing. It is the darkest hour. Phoenix has the Tooth and he is ready to strike. Radu Bey is descending and he brings death and pain in his wake.
