Plot Summary

Genre: Fiction

Reason for categorization in this age group: Reading level, mild violence

Eleven-year-old Tom Hammond lives next to Leepike Ridge with his mom. One night while floating downstream on the packing foam from their new refrigerator, Tom is dragged under Leepike Ridge by the current and is lost in its dark, watery caves. There he finds Reg, a wild-looking man who has been stuck under the ridge for three years and survives exclusively on albino crawfish. So, basically a caveman.

Leepike Ridge is supposedly home to lost treasure--and a band of dastardly treasure hunters in the world above is determined to get their hands on it. Knowing full well that Tom's deceased father knew something about this treasure, the treasure hunters hatch a plot to get information out of Mrs. Hammond about her late husband.

Tom and Reg are desperate to escape the cavernous depths of Leepike Ridge. With Tom's drive and Reg's ingenuity, maybe they can make it to the surface in time.
